Duo's Mongol Rally £700 mini-van rolls into town
A MINI-VAN disguised as a purple yak will appear in the Market Place on Sunday.
Pals Matt Roberts and George Bethell are planning to drive from Bolton to Outer Mongolia in the tiny £700 van called Doris.
Mr Roberts, aged 22, from Westhoughton , met George, from Ipswich, while studying at the University of Sheffield.
The pair are making the trip without a sat-nav and aim to raise £10,000 for charity.
The Mongol Rally is one of the most gruelling challenges on Earth.
In just six weeks, the pair will cross seven time zones, three continents and three deserts to get to their destination.
They will travel through 16 countries, over mountains and deserts and some of the most remote, challenging terrain on Earth, all in a grey Daihatsu Hi-Jet mini-van.
They have given their van a makeover, with a purple overcoat and a set of fibreglass Yak horns and a tail.
