HP2600n – Getting the most out of your toner

In my home office I have a HP 2600n laserprinter. Works great, and, even if it is a few years old, have had no problems with it. There was however one very annoying little thing that kept bugging my whenever one of my toner cartridges had run out (usually black, as that one is used more): When the toner would run out, or better yet, when my HP2600n decided that one of my toner cartridges had reached it’s end of life point, I wasn’t able to print anything anymore until I replaced the toner. Even if all my other (in this case) colors were almost all the way full. This has caused some problems from time to time when I needed to print something, and just couldn’t. I figured there would have to be a setting that needed adjusting in order to continue printing (at least until all other colors were completely exhausted). As it turned out (of course) there was! All you need to do is enable Cartridge Out Override.

Cartridge Out Override can only be enabled from the printer’s control panel menu.
