Facility rates at Clinton High School could cost - The Sampson ...
The issue came up at a work session last week when the Sampson County Sports Club requested to have a reduced fee for their upcoming Hall of Fame ceremony. Since the school has not been made it a practice to rent out the facility, renting it out to the club would have set a precedent, thus a facility rental rate fee had to be created to accommodate any future prospective outside rentals. Under the proposal, rental rates for the school’s atrium/cafeteria will be $800 for the first 4 hours and $120 per hour for each hour after; a classroom’s rental rate would be $400 for the first four hours and $60 per hour after; Laboratories will cost $600 for the first four hours and $90 for each hour after; the main gymnasium will cost $800 for the first four hours and $120 per hour after; the auxiliary gymnasium will cost the same. Any media center or ball field rentals will cost $600 for the first four hour rental, and $90 per hour; If you want lights on the field there will be an additional cost of $100 for the first four hours and $15 per hour; and finally rental fees for the concession facilities will cost $300 for the first four hours and $45 per hour following the first four. “These rates are close to and consistent with the Expo Center,” Locklear said. “We might say this is an enterprise rate, a rate that is set to recover costs and make money. We can use these rates and if organizations wanted to use the facilities, they would pay this larger rate. This would allow you to have the facilities available to the community, if they were willing to pay it. These rates are fair and appropriate for a facility of this nature.” The Sampson Independent welcomes and accepts online comments on the basis of relevance to stories.
