Electronic Theatre In-depth Review: FEAR 3

&Nbsp;           Warner Bros. Interactive have had a good run of it lately. The effort to increase their share of the videogames market with known franchises for the core audience has worked wonders – with Mortal Kombat being the current jewel in that crown – and the delivery of original, intriguing titles on Nintendo DS and other formats sees a publisher with all its bases covered. The latest title to join the former market space is F.E.A.R. 3 , a game which has a grand heritage to live-up to, but not one which has always pleased the fans.             The original F.E.A.R. on PC was a masterpiece in its day. Co-developed by Monolith and Day 1 Studios, it was a game that delivered a foreboding atmosphere based on tension long before the likes of Condemned . It was a game that retold the tale of the First-Person Shooter (FPS) genre with a new supernatural slant; a game that was frequently less about when you fired your gun as in what direction you targeted it. The console conversion however, left many feeling cold. Much of what made the PC original great felt clunky on consoles, and the visual quality suffered during the conversion process for some unknown reason.             F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin was a more widely respected title for all formats, having been developed for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 side-by-side. F.E.A.R. 3 is promised to be closer to F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin , devised as a multi-format titles and intended to make full use of the strengths of each system, delivering on both the atmosphere and gunplay that make the F.E.A.R. series unique. all good horror stories F.E.A.R. 3 builds it’s activities from simple parlour tricks to an almighty crescendo.

Rube Goldberg inspired Halo 3 antics! EDIT: I used to have a TON of info on how to build these things in Halo 3, or where to find the info on how to do it, but much of it seems pretty out-dated at this point. Many new techniques have been discovered that are much easier than how I did it, and aside from that, Reach is out, which makes it INSANELY easy to build these things. Well, harder in some regards, but….phasing and such REALLY helps. Anyways, to answer some questions: 1) I do not have ANY of the “physical” maps. Almost immediately after creating the videos, I deleted them from my HDD, as I created a lot of stuff and needed space. Plus, after the machine has run it’s course, there’s nothing left to accomplish. 2) Yes, I am aware these traps wouldn’t work in practice. But, if you’ll notice, they’re not ACTUALLY trap designs. They’re Rube Goldberg machines. Trap is just the name. Mouse Trap in particular is a throwback to the old Mouse Trap board game, which itself was a Rube Goldberg machine. 3) To the people claiming I have no life, I have a strong urge to point out, that you’re REALLY over-estimating how long it takes to build these. Especially once you know how everything works. It took a while to learn how to do it all, but after that, it’s all up to the imagination. Also, it’s not like it’s any worse than playing the multiplayer for hours a day. I just happen to enjoy building things. ALSO: U Jelly. QQ moar plz. Etc etc.
